A Japanese arcade, amusement, and prize-figure company founded on August 24, 1953 in Tokyo by Ukrainian-Jewish businessman Michael Kogan (1920–1984) as Taito Trading Company, originally importing vodka and vending machines. Famous for the 1978 Space Invaders arcade release that defined an industry era. Now operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Square Enix Holdings following the August / September 2005 Square Enix tender offer and the March 2006 SQEX-Taito merger. The third (current) Taito Corporation was formed on February 1, 2010 via merger of the second Taito Corporation with ES1 Corporation. Headquartered at Shinjuku Eastside Square, 6-27-30 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. Operates the Taito Station arcade chain plus prize-tier scale-figure production across the Artist MasterPiece (AMP), Coreful Figure, T-Most Figure, Aqua Float Girls, Wonderland Figure, and other named lines.
