A Tokyo video-game publisher formed by the April 1, 2003 merger of Square (Final Fantasy) and Enix (Dragon Quest), operating from the Shinjuku Eastside Square building in Shinjuku-ku. Best known as the publisher of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, NieR, and the Tomb Raider catalog (since the 2009 Eidos acquisition). For figures, runs an in-house operation through three lines — Play Arts Kai (articulated, 25-28 cm), Bring Arts (articulated, ~14 cm, launched 2017), and Static Arts (scale statues, launched 2007 and revived 2016 as Static Arts Gallery) — distributed primarily through the Square Enix Store.
