Japan
A Kyoto-based hobby company founded in 1972 by Hideyuki Shigeta and his wife as a small downtown hobby shop. Headquartered at 60 Goshonouchi Nakamachi Shichi-Jo, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto. Built itself into the central institution of the Japanese garage-kit scene through the 1980s and 1990s, then defined the Japanese ball-jointed doll market with Super Dollfie (1999, created by Volks sculptor Akihiro Enku) and Dollfie Dream (2003). Also produces traditional scale figures, mecha and military model kits, and operates the Hobby Round retail showrooms and Tenshi-no-Sato museum.
