Marusan's plastic model series carries one of the deepest legacies in the Japanese hobby, the company is credited with selling the first domestically produced plastic model kits in Japan, the original Plamodel. A tin-toy maker in the 1950s that moved into plastic, Marusan helped found the model-kit hobby itself, and its kit line descends from that history.
