Glitter & Glamours is a prize line, which is the first thing to know about it: these are crane-game figures from Banpresto, the Bandai Spirits brand that fills arcade claw machines rather than preorder pages. It started in August 2016 with a Nami in her One Piece Film Gold dress, and One Piece has been its home ground ever since, the Straw Hats' women and the wider cast of pirates turning up release after release. At around 25cm the figures run large for a prize, near the top of what a claw machine will hold, and the line trades on a glossy, polished finish, the luster its name keeps promising.

The line works on a simple rhythm. A character arrives in two versions at once, a standard colorway and a 'Special Color' alternate, often a metallic or pearl finish on the same sculpt, so a figure like Nami or Boa Hancock ends up in a small spread of variants rather than a single edition. One Piece supplies most of the roster, Nami and Nico Robin and Hancock and Vivi and Pudding among them, but the net widens to Dragon Ball's Android 18 and Bulma, Lupin III's Fujiko Mine, and the occasional outlier from Houshin Engi or GeGeGe no Kitaro. Planning runs through Banpresto's Flag Diamond Ship label.

As it ran, Glitter & Glamours grew a few branches, a Shiny Venus sub-series that revisits its headline characters, alongside sibling prize lines like Sweet Style Pirates working the same territory. Years on it is still in rotation, new One Piece women arriving in the amusement centers in pairs, the formula it set in 2016 holding steady.
