A Japanese tokusatsu production company founded on April 12, 1963 by special-effects director Eiji Tsuburaya, originally as Tsuburaya Special Effects Productions and renamed Tsuburaya Productions in 1968 (under Toho pressure). Owner of the Ultraman franchise (Ultra Q, Ultraman, Ultraseven, and the ongoing six-decade run of sequels through Ultraman Omega in 2026). Now a consolidated subsidiary of Tsuburaya Fields Holdings (51%) and an equity-method affiliate of Bandai Namco Holdings (49%) following the 2007 TYO Inc. acquisition, the 2010 Fields Corporation buyout of TYO's stake, and incremental Bandai purchases through 2009. Headquartered in Shibuya Garden Tower, 16-17 Nanpeidaicho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. For figures, operates primarily as IP licensor — Bandai's S.H.Figuarts Ultraman line, X-Plus's Daikaiju Series, Marusan's soft-vinyl continuation, plus broad Bandai-mass-market work — with direct merchandise running through the Tsuburaya store and the annual Ultraman Festival.
