A Japanese media company in the Fujisankei Communications Group. Established October 1, 1966 as Nippon Broadcasting System Service Inc., a specialized music division of Nippon Broadcasting System focused on the duplication and sales of prerecorded audio tapes. Renamed Pony Inc. in 1970; Canyon Records Inc. was separately established on August 1, 1970 within the same Fujisankei group. Pony Canyon Inc. was formed on October 21, 1987 through the merger of Pony Inc. and Canyon Records Inc. Operates primarily as a music label, video distributor, and anime production / licensing operation across major franchises including Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, K-On!, and Free!. Headquartered at 2-5-10 Toranomon, Minato-ku, Tokyo. Kazunari Okuma is current President and CEO. For figures, Pony Canyon's role is primarily IP licensor / production-committee partner rather than direct manufacturer; the Pony Canyon Scale Figure and Pony Canyon Character Goods Figure lines represent limited direct work.
