A Japanese visual-novel and game development studio founded on June 1, 2000 in Taitō, Tokyo by Takaki Kosaka (also known as Digitarou). Headquartered at 2-2-2 Nihonbashi Honcho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Current leadership: Takaki Kosaka as President and Gen Urobuchi (the writer behind Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, and Psycho-Pass) as Vice President. Best known for the Saya no Uta, Kikokugai, and Full Metal Daemon Muramasa visual-novel catalog; the Steins;Gate visual novel (2009 co-production with 5pb.); the Touken Ranbu franchise; the Thunderbolt Fantasy puppet-show co-production with Gen Urobuchi and Pili International Multimedia; and the Super Sonico character (designed by Tsuji Santa as the mascot for the annual Nitro Super Sonic concert from 2006 onward). In September 2021 Nitroplus established the Nitro Origin sub-brand for age-restricted works, with the main Nitroplus brand reserved for all-ages content. On June 26, 2024 CyberAgent (parent of Cygames) announced its acquisition of Nitroplus for 16.704 billion yen; the transaction took effect on July 1, 2024, making Nitroplus a 72.5% controlling-stake subsidiary of CyberAgent.
