Frame Arms Girl turned a line of mecha into a phenomenon. Spun off from Kotobukiya's Frame Arms model kits in 2015, it reimagined each mechanical design as a bishoujo character, a girl wearing the mecha's armor as her own, and in doing so helped open the whole girl-model-kit, or girlpla, genre that Kotobukiya now leads. The kits snap together from pre-colored parts with tampography-printed faces, buildable without paint, and a builder can swap weapons and armor freely across the line. Gourai, the first release, remains the line's emblem.
