About this figure family
FuRyu's most charming idea: a figure built to sit on the lid of a cup of instant noodles and hold it down while it cooks. The character drapes forward over the rim, weighted to do the job, then lives on a desk edge afterward. It started in late 2015 and became a FuRyu signature.
The Noodle Stopper Figure is the rare prize figure with a job. FuRyu built the line around a single, slightly absurd but useful idea: a small figure weighted and posed to perch on the lid of a cup of instant noodles, draped forward over the rim so the character's own body holds the paper lid down through the three minutes it takes to cook. Afterward it hooks onto the corner of a desk or a monitor, which is the other half of the pitch, a figure that blends into daily life rather than just standing on a shelf. FuRyu trademarked the name, nicknamed it 'nu-suto' in Japanese, and has run it since late 2015.
The lid-holding requirement shapes the whole line. Every figure leans, lounges, or sprawls forward at the waist, since a character has to physically lie across a cup to work, which gives the series a consistent relaxed posture even across wildly different franchises. And the franchises are many: To Love-Ru Darkness filled the early run, Danmachi's Hestia opened it, and from there it spread to Touken Ranbu, Sword Art Online, Fate/Grand Order, the Darkstalkers women, a wave of early VTubers like Kizuna Ai, and one-offs as far afield as Yu-Gi-Oh's Kaiba and a Marvel Iron Spider. Hatsune Miku has become its mascot, fronting the line's tenth-anniversary releases in 2026.
Over a decade it has grown a few variants, a larger Big Noodle Stopper for more presence and assorted premium and themed runs, but the core idea never changed. It remains FuRyu's friendliest line, the one figure on the shelf that has actually earned its keep over a cup of noodles.
