Japan
A Japanese anime production and merchandise company founded in August 2002 as the planning-and-production arm of the Animate Group, the corporate cluster centered on the Animate anime-retail chain. Headquartered at Higashi-Ikebukuro Central Place 5F, 3-22-17 Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo 170-0013 — the same Toshima Ward / Higashi-Ikebukuro cluster where sister company Movic and the Animate flagship retail store operate. Masahide Tsuji serves as President & CEO. Operations span anime production (OVAs, TV series with production-committee partners), drama-CD and radio-drama production, anime-soundtrack publishing, character-merchandise development, stage-production and event work, and game-related media. The catalog has anchored major male-idol multimedia franchises through the 2010s and 2020s (Uta no Prince-sama work with Broccoli, additional idol-anime catalog) alongside broader anime-production-committee participation. On September 5, 2025, Frontier Works acquired anime studio Yokohama Animation Lab as a subsidiary, making it the company's first in-house animation studio. For figures, Frontier Works' role is principally IP licensor and merchandise producer through the Animate retail / Movic merchandise channels rather than direct sculpt-and-mold figure manufacturer.
