Aizu Project works in a material most of the industry left behind. While the mainstream moved to mass PVC, Aizu kept casting its figures in cold-cast resin, a denser medium poured cold into molds and finished largely by hand, and it built a long catalogue on that choice. The releases run mostly at 1/6 and 1/7, drawn from the fan-service end of anime, the Ikkitousen warriors, Senran Kagura's shinobi, Evangelion's pilots, the heroine of Elf-san wa Yaserarenai, often issued in alternate color and costume versions of the same sculpt. The cold-cast process gives an Aizu figure a weight in the hand that PVC cannot match, the trade a collector makes for a smaller, more specialist run.
