About this figure
This is Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, the third Gear 5 entry in Banpresto's King of Artist line, in the Nijigen Saishiki finish. Nijigen Saishiki means two-dimensional coloring: the figure is painted with flat anime-style shading, so it reads like a frame of the show standing on your shelf. Luffy sits cross-legged mid-laugh, which is the most Gear 5 pose there is. This is one of the newest pieces in the catalog, arriving in March 2026 as the cel-shaded experiment in the King of Artist run. The figure is PVC and ABS, non-scale, sized to the line's seated format. Next to a conventionally painted Gear 5 the difference is immediate, and that contrast is the reason to own this one. It photographs like animation, every time.
